DUI Arrest's Down from Previous Year

Posted by Robert Lee Hamilton | Jan 03, 2013 | 0 Comments

Drunken driving arrests during Shasta County's special holiday enforcement season were down compared to the 2011 season, but unlike that year, 2012 recorded an alcohol-related fatality.

During the 19-day campaign against driving under the influence, participating law enforcement agencies made 59 arrests, down from 76 during the same period in 2011. The season runs from Dec. 14 to Jan. 1 each year.

Authorities say they plan to conduct more anti-DUI operations throughout the area during Super Bowl Sunday, which falls on Feb. 3 and on St. Patrick's Day on March 17.
